Brush me off, please.

I have some sun discoloration on my face that I’ve long wished would go away.
My dermatologist gave me some Retin A over a year ago. He told me it might be 6 months before I noticed any kind of improvement. He was right… It took a loooong time, but there was indeed mild improvement. Too much time though, not enough results.
A few months ago, I splurged and decided to go to a local spa for a microdermabrasion treatment in hopes faster acting treatment.
The treatment worked mildly well. I was told a series of microdermabrasion treatments would produce more results, and that a chemical peel would work even better.
I’ll save my chemical peel story for another time, being kinda sleepy and all, but what I DO want to share right now is that I had a follow up facial after having had that peel. The aesthetician used a Clarisonic brush on my face.
It was absolute bliss! The massaging and brushing action really seemed to wake up and stimulate my face in oh-so good ways.
I decided I must have one. They aren’t cheap though, averaging around $195. I decided to put it on my Christmas wish list and dream.
I’ve received a few online coupon codes for various stores that carry it. Then, I received a 20% off code for Sephora AND saw they currently have a special bundled purchase which includes a $96 full sized bottle of Kinerase C6 Peptide Intensive Treatment for free! I swooped in for the kill. I’ve never tried this Kinerase product, but it’s hard to imagine going wrong with anything from the Kinerase line.
When I told Tim he could consider himself having gotten my Christmas present, I was pleasantly surprised with his response. “REALLY?!?! Oh, Sweetie, you must REALLY love me!!!” and gave me a big hug.
It should be arriving on Tuesday. Yay!
I’m SO thoughtful. :p

Ode to a toothbrush
Happy new year, everyone!
I’m back at work today. Off all last week. Nursed Sofie from her bout with pneumonia and RSV. Came down with a cold myself. Then Tim came down with a cold
Yeah, I felt cheated out of my winter break, but through it all, I could not help but think about this time last year. Tim and I spent Christmas and New Year (and EVERY day for three months) in the NICU with Sofie.
By comparison, this year’s holiday season rocked.
At one point last week, I found myself at the drug store, having run out of cough syrup. As I was quickly making my way to the register, I totally saw something out of the corner of my eye… “Wait… Was that…?”… and turned around to investigate.
Indeed, it was.
If you’ve been visiting me here for a while now, you know I had coveted this Tooth Tunes toothbrush. (Also, I don’t recall if I’ve previously waxed on about my strange, thorough fascination with toothbrushes and the fact I wrote a final thesis paper on toothbrushes for one of my college courses.)
In addition to the MC Hammer toothbrush, they also had Queen and High School Musical. Only one MC Hammer left though. I came to the rational conclusion that it was destined to be mine. There was no price tag. I didn’t care. When I saw it ring up at $9.99, I hesitated, but then quickly got over it. (Why I got worked up over $9.99 is beyond me. I spend more than that on coffee each day.)
Masochistically, I could not use it until after I was over my cold, lest I cootie it up.
Finally, the glorious day arrived, and I could finally try it out. One word: AWESOME.
Interestingly, when you turn it on, you can barely hear anything. However, when you press the brush to your teeth (or finger, or wherever YOU plan to press your toothbrush bristles), the jam pumps up.
In fact, I love this silly little thing SO much, I’m going to share the joy.
I will send one lucky recipient their very own Tooth Tunes toothbrush!
I hereby announce Regina’s Silly Toothbrush Haiku Contest.
To enter, simply submit a comment to this post. Your comment must include a haiku that is composed of three lines where the first line has 5 syllables, the second line has 7 syllables and the third line has 5 syllables. And it must have something to do with - or make reference to - some facet of oral hygiene. And, well, since it’s my blog, I guess I’m judge and jury.
I will receive entries through January 31 and announce a winner February 1.
Happy haikuing!
